Westfort was formed in 2013 with the merger of both Lunenburg Vlees and Egbert Kruiswijk Vleesproducten named after their shared slaughterhouse in Gorinchem. As a family business, with a now global presence, they have specialised in pork processing for many generations.
Westfort is a highly specialised pork meat processing company offering the full range of meat processing services. With a brand new slaughterhouse that opened in 2015 and big expansion plans underway, Westfort have set themselves up as one of the most trusted and respected pork processing companies in Europe.
On average 50,000 pigs are slaughtered at Westfort's IJsselstein plant every single week, which amounts to more than 5,000,000 kg each year. Their products are exported all over the world, from the UK and Europe, to Africa, Asia, North America and Australia.

Sustainable Pork from the Netherlands
Westfort offers many pork concepts: Sustainable Pork Value Chain (KDV), Deli Harmony, Ijsselland cold meats, Pigs of Tomorrow and KDV 1-star Better life hallmark.
Sustainable Pork Value Chain (KDV), is a cooperative venture between Dutch pig farmers, slaughterhouses, wholesalers, butchers, cold meat producers, retailers and caterers. As well as setting standards on animal welfare and the environment, they proactively encourage and facilitate developments in pig farming. They also have farms which are carbon neutral and anti biotic free.
Deli Harmony is the Organic branch of Westfort, led by specialist and pioneer Henk van Oers, who has been supplying 100% organic meat since 1981. What sets Deli Harmony’s meat apart is the time invested in the production process: the time the animals are given to live and grow, and the time taken to prepare, ripen, cook, smoke, season and marinade the meat.
KDV Better Life signifies compliance with the requirements for both the KDV hallmark and the Better Life hallmark of the Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals. In addition to animal welfare and the requirements of the KDV, Better Life 1-Star includes stipulations concerning the pigs’ living space.
Pigs of Tomorrow is a hallmark developed by an external agency, the Dutch Food Retail Association (CBL). CBL hopes to enhance the sustainability of all fresh pork products in supermarkets by improving conditions for people, animals and the environment.
